Celebrating Earth Day

Celebrating Earth Day
East Street students went "wild" celebrating Earth Day on Monday, April 8th, with Ranger Eric Powers. A biologist, teacher, outdoorsman, and all-around nature lover, Ranger Eric brought his family of rescued wild animals for us to see, learn about, and touch. In addition to his therapy dog Gangsta, students interacted with a turtle, tarantula, chinchilla, lizard, frog, and even a python.
East Street's Green Team took this opportunity to display their projects about endangered animals around the world. Fourth and fifth Green Team members created paintings, posters, drawings and dioramas about their chosen animals. Students were also treated to other items found in nature from Mrs. Shurley's extensive collection. They handled skins, nests, shells, horns and sea life artifacts. It was a great day celebrating our mother nature!
