Mission

The Board of Education and the entire Hicksville Public School community remain committed to providing a quality educational program for all students in a safe, secure and nurturing environment that will assist them, each in their own way, in becoming caring, contributing and responsible citizens.

Vision

It is our intention to provide a broad range of tailored learning pathways to prepare every student regardless of individual challenges with 21st century college and career opportunities ensuring all students graduate empowered with the academic, social and emotional competencies required in navigating today's ever changing world.

District Goal 1

To investigate new and expand existing vocational educational program opportunities for students as sustainable, long- term partnerships with higher education, career and technical education centers, in-house programs and internships, externships and apprenticeships with municipalities and the trades. This will ensure all students have personalized choices for their learning pathways for success upon graduation from high school. By the close of the 2020-2021 school year (2 years) initial new opportunities will be available for student choice.

District Goal 2

To increase the number of 3rd grade students reading on or above grade level to 90% by the close of the 2023-2024 school year (5 years).

District Goal 3

To ensure college and career readiness, increase math achievement in Algebra 1 to 90% of students meeting or exceeding performance level 3, thereby increasing mastery level (performance level 4 and 5) by 10% at the middle school by the close of the 2023-2024 (5 years) school year. This will set our students on the path for more advanced mathematics courses (Geometry, Algebra II, advanced placement) at the high school
thereby increasing the percentage of students graduating with an advanced Regents diploma by 5%.

District Goal 4

To develop and implement a whole child initiative which focuses on a "culture of care" which is inclusive and connected to the school community by addressing the physical, mental, social and emotional well-being of all students by the close of the 2020-2021(2 years) school year for elementary level and 2023-2024 for secondary level (5 years).

District Goal 5
